How to turn off or remove "add a caption" option on Photos?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, the 'Add a Caption' feature is blocking you from seeing photos within the Apple Photos app.

To stop seeing the 'Add a Caption' feature within the Apple Photos app, don't swipe up when viewing the photo.

You can stop displaying the feature by swiping towards the bottom of your screen.

There are no options to disable this feature.

Thanks for this thread. I was running into problems with the photo of my COVID vaccines proof and it was a pain when I needed to show all three shots. "Swipe down" got rid of the "add a caption" but didn't restore the full photo. I realized if I swipe down and then tap the screen once, I can see the full image!

In that case, we have a few things you can try out.

If you see the keyboard to write a caption within the Photos app, check the top left side for a 'Cancel' option. If you select this, it should revert back to showing you the image. You may need to swipe towards the bottom of the screen to remove it.

Try closing the Photos app: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

Then Restart your iPhone

You can test out the Photos app after it restarts.

If I swipe the. Photo down it reverts to its original position. This is very annoying, cannot see full photo because of this feature and no way to disable it, what was Apple thinking??

The Add a Caption is so annoying. I don't want it, don't use it and want it permanently removed. I know how to get it to go away by pressing the X, but I just think it is insane to have it pop up. It's not needed. Apple should have thought about how to permanently get rid of it.

Apple I have tried all the recommended methods to view the bottom 1/4 of my photos and nothing gets rid of the caption pop. There is no X on my keyboard and no amount of swiping in any direction gets rid of it.

I take screen shots of important information to reference and I cant see the bottom lines.

Please do something to make this an option instead of an annoyance.

I agree, I am tired of this pop up! No way to disable it??

I had to purchase a third party app that does not impose this annoying feature on the user.

Soooo very annoying. And for what purpose? How many iPhone photographers add captions?
