ipad pro not showing up in finder sync

Details:

  • ipad pro 12.9 4th generation
  • macOS BigSur

Issue:

  • Using a usb-a to usb-c cable to MBP with USB-A
    • the iPad Pro charges
    • but the iPad Pro doesn't show up in the finder

Troubleshooting - result is the same

  • tried 2 cables (usb-a to usb-c)
  • rebooted both iPad Pro and MBP and reconnected
  • upgraded to iOS 15
  • reset network settings
  • Allowed USB - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208857
  • reset iPad with all users data.

Not sure why the iPad can charge but not finder mount.

Thanks for the share. I've already seen that article and used it.

  • did not see the trust this computer alert
  • unplugged all usb devices from the computer except this.
  • tried both sides of the laptop usb port
  • tried another iPad Pro which worked which showed the above indicator of a connection

  • used the system information and it didn't show any device on USB.
