Then is "Easystore" the name if the drive?

If you installed WD's software when you got the drive, that could be the problem. It's given me grief on older older PowerPC Macs as well as current Intel models. Slowdowns; stalls; overheating. Not nice.

Things to do, in somewhat of an order:

  • Restart the computer.
  • Check to see if the drive is too full.
  • Confirm that the external drive is recognized. Try a different cable. Often, external drives that lack an separate power supply cannot get enough power from one USB port to work properly.
  • Remove any anti-virus and so-called cleaning apps from your Mac. They are useless.

Assuming Time Machine has finished and is now idle, verify the Time Machine backup, and see if that clears this. To verify, Option-Click on the Time Machine icon in the menu bar, and select Verify.

Restart the Mac, and see if that clears this.

Check for macOS updates for your version of macOS, and running he current Monterey, Big Sur, or maybe Catalina would be typical.

Failing that, issues with or conflicts with what’s installed. Some add-on apps can get in the way. Anti-malware, add-on storage management apps or “drivers” from WD or add-on storage tools otherwise, add-on cleaner apps, etc.
