iPhoto Slideshow Freezes
Have an album of 500 photos which I want to use in a simple single slideshow. Of the 6 themes in iPhoto both Classic and Ken Burns freeze part way through, although the music loop chosen from those that come with iPhoto carries on. Can return to the main iPhoto window by pressing Esc key.
Scaling down the number of photos in the slideshow doesn't help until below about 80 photos. Have tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist prefs file and also rebuilding the library without effecting an improvement. Tried creating a new library but no change. Activity Monitor reports very high levels of CPU utilisation (95+%) while slideshow running and virtual memory of 1.6GB on an Intel iMac with 3GB and 180GB of free disk space.
Tried Export to Slideshow for the 500 photo slideshow, which doesn't work for Large and Display, freezing part way through the export, but does complete for the other options.
The version is actually iPhoto '09 (8.1.2)
Have the same problem on a MacBook - same iPhoto version, 4GB memory and 150GB free disk space.
