iphone 11 custom ringtones no longer working

Help! I have tried everything and my custom ring tones, since I updated to 15.2, will not work. It doesn't seem to matter what I do. I have even purchased a ringtone to see if that works but to no avail. I have reset my phone. I have changed them all back to the default. In some of my research, it says it is a known issue and that apple will fix it eventually. Is there anyone that can help with this? I am pretty frustrated at the moment. Thank you kindly.

I just solved it. I had a couple of custom sound files .m4r that I lost when I updated to OS 15.2, then today I connected the iPhone XR to my imac OSX 11.6.2 and in the FINDER I now get to manually sync my iphone like I used to do it with iTunes many years ago. I just simply dragged all 12 files (some .m4a alert tones) into the finder window and then they are back in my iphones SOUND settings available for me to use. Hope this works for you too. All my files where made with some free app that let me grab sound bites from my AIF or purchased songs that let me create .m4r files.

Great question, mistyfromportsmouth.

Since your ringtones are not behaving as we would expect from the articles linked earlier in our conversation, you will want to reach out to Apple Support for additional troubleshooting and to potentially create a ticket documenting your personal details and specifics of your devices, something that cannot be done on a user-to-user forum such as Apple Support Communities.

Once you contact Apple, they will be able to provide you with the answers to those questions, all we can recommend at this point is that you reach out to them to have this matter investigated further.

Take care.

Thanks for following up, mistyfromportsmouth.

When it comes to iTunes, this was removed from macOS a few versions ago and was replaced by Finder in macOS Catalina to sync your device with your Mac. Learn more here: Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer.

If the above steps are still not improving the situation with your ringtones, you can Contact Apple for support and service.

Take care.

Thanks for reaching out, mistyfromportsmouth.

It sounds like you're having trouble with ringtones. We can help.

You can follow this guide to Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for ringtones you've purchased. If these are ringtones you've created, instead you can follow these steps to Create a ringtone of your Logic Pro or GarageBand for Mac song or Share songs with GarageBand for iPhone depending on which devices you're using to make the custom ringtones.

Hope that helps!

Take care.

Thank you for responding but this doesn't answer my question. I believe there is a glitch in the new update. I have customer ringtones that show up on my iPhone and they are set to play for each individual but when that person calls, the custom ringtone will not play. It defaults to the default ringtone, which, by the way, is a custom ringtone. I am pretty frustrated but hoping for help. The other issue is that I no longer have iTunes on my mac since upgrading to Monterey. Can you assist? Thank you kindly.
