Dual Security Verification in Messages

I have dual security verification set up for several websites. After signing in, I am asked for either a phone # to text or an email address to have the Security Code sent to me. Suddenly now the code shows up right on the website . . . so much for security!!!! This happens only when I get the text, not when I get the email.

Any idea how I can stop this from happening???

Thank you,

Kathy

On the 'Enter Security Code' screen, under the 'Enter Security code line, a small green box appears with a bubble 💬 & it says 'Fill code xxxxxx From Messages'. All I have to do then is click on that box & it fills in the code! I still get that code in Messages, but why it suddenly comes up on the Security Code screen beats me.

I am actually on the website because that is where I am logging into.

Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID

Verification codes

A verification code is a temporary code sent to your trusted device or phone number when you sign in to a new device or browser with your Apple ID. You can also get a verification code from Settings on your trusted device.

A verification code is different from the device passcode you enter to unlock your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
