Cut and Paste (again)

How do we cut & paste files. I did a search and all the answers are all old (could not find how to sort by latest!). Copy and past is not good enough as I select hundreds of non contiguous files to move and if I click or tap something by mistake it is gone. (now have so many duplicates, it's incredible). Drag is not an option either as my screen is too small & again if something happens while dragging, it screws everything up. I am currently looking at buying another laptop (Windows) because of that. It drives me bonkers. It looks like it can be done in some folders, but not others (like Download).

Thanks for the great support. I found a lot of valuable information here. :)

Hold down the Option key when you paste (cmd-option-v). It will Move as opposed to copy.

If you copy something in the Finder, then open the Edit menu, hold down Option key and you'll see the options. There are options for many other menu items.

Thank you very much. That does the trick. Exactly what I have been looking for for 2 years. Curious , is that option always been there & if yes. Where should I have look?

Just wonder why they hide important stuff like this. I watched so many MacBook tutorials & this never came up.

Even when I read many articles in this Apple Community, and could not find that answer.
