Because the photos are imported into the Photos app, which syncs to iCloud if you have enabled iCloud Photos. Or, if you have enabled iCloud Sync for WhatsApp and Facebook that’s the reason. Go to Settings/WhatsApp and tap on Photos to change the setting. Similarly for Facebook.
