Why is my homepod soliciting IPv6 ULA's?

This was noticed a month ago when re-configuring my pihole it kept insisting on binding to the address being solicited by the HomePod (fd48:180a:e6cb:4654::/64).


I've seen some other threads with people asking this but there isn't any real information being offered. For what's its worth this has only been happening recently maybe the last couple updates to the device.


I was able to capture the solicitations in Wireshark as you can see below.


It would be nice to disable the thread protocol for the time being since I can't see the benefit with a singular device in the house. Thread and 6LoWPAN look cool but I'm not really digging the idea of being forced into running an IoT mesh network without my own administrative control.
