Voicemail not working

I have an iPhone XR running software version 15.2.1 and recently I'm having issue with the voicemail not working properly. If somebody dials my number the phone will register the call however when it transfers to voice mail the caller is directed to a generic automated voicemail account to leave a message and I never receive the voicemail on the iPhone. I have voicemail set up with a custom greeting; I've reset the iPhone; I've reset the network settings however none of these seem to help with directing the voicemails to my inbox. If I dial the voicemail network direct using *86 or holding 1 on the keypad, I'm informed there are no messages in my inbox even though I have left several testing the system.

I seem to have cured the problem by turning "Wi-Fi Calling" off in the cellular settings. Now if you can tell me why this affects my voicemail and where to look to find the voicemails I never received I would be extremely grateful.

You may need to select the correct region to see your carrier.

Let's also verify everything is set up correctly according to this page: Check your voicemail on iPhone

If the issue persists, you may need to reach out to your carrier.

If they determine everything is working correctly, can you provide a few more details? Are you having issues receiving voicemails from everybody or just specific people? When did you first notice this? Also, which carrier are you currently using?

Thank you for those details and for the update.

Wi-Fi calling and Voicemail are both features provided by your carrier.

Reaching out to your carrier for an explanation would be the best option.
