iPhone stuck restoring

I just activated my new iPhone 13 Pro Max and used iCloud for back up to restore from my iPhone 8 Plus. It has been 24 hrs and I have plenty of storage left but my phone in setting says restore in progress, an estimated 100mb will be required to finish restoring your apps and data. What I go into settings, Apple ID, iCloud, iCloud backup, the first two options are set on and are faded so I cannot change it and when I hit stop restoring iPhone and confirm, it doesn’t work/nothing happens. I cannot update new IOS till iCloud restoring is done. My phone is usable but iCloud and iOS is stuck.

Same problem here. I have scoured the internet and can't find any solution that works for me. I did a force restart as recommended here and it makes no difference other than sometimes after the restart the number fluctuates between 100MB and 500MB. All of my apps restored and I can open them, and I can't find anything that is missing. But I am unable to kill this restore which also makes it impossible to update iOS to the new version. I wiped the phone and started all over with the restore process, but it just ends up stuck again at 100 or 500 MB.

Try a force restart


Force restart an iPhone with Face ID

To force restart iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13, do the following:

Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
