Restoring my iPhone

I recently found my old iPhone 7, and forgot the password. I spent all night and all morning trying to restore it, I plugged it into my MacBook, tried updating, restoring, for hours, and the software kept getting corrupted during download, or the phone would restart before the update finished. I tried using a friends iMac, and the update got corrupted again. Any tips?
