I have a MacBook Pro mid 2014, and I too am experiencing the same problem. I was told it was my batteries and still I can go 4 hours with it without plugging it in. My cycles are over due but it is still going on strong. I suff the net and bang it closes. I have reset over and over again the SMC and PRAM, re-install SurBig, look with activity monitor and can't put the finger on what is causing this Mac to shutdown randomly. This has been happening a lot since the new Sur big has come around ... wonder if that is the case.
