I just bought a 2020 Macbook air and it needed my time machine to load so I did. My most recent time machine update is six months old. All of my new stuff is in iCloud. How do I get my iCloud files and applications on to my Macbook air?

How do I get my iCloud files and applications on to my Macbook air? Do I have to re-erase all of the crap I had six months ago?
