Pro display XDR

The screen doesn't work. When I press the brightness button the voice over said that the brightness levels is zero. I tried to connect the screen in different laptops but it still doesn't work.

The screen worked properly and it stopped working after i updated the software

  • i have AMD Radeon Pro 580X
  • i use this one with the thunderbold symbol behind the tower (the port that i used is correct)
  • I use the standard cable that come with the mac pro 2019 - Thunderbolt 3 (USB‑C) Cable

[when i use another screen - standard lenovo screen that is connected to HDMI, MAC Pro is working]

[also the display XDR does not work when is connected to my laptop mac book 2018 as a second screen]

i have a mac pro 2019 and the associated Pro display XDR. When i turn on, the screen is black and cannot turn on (sometimes i hear the startup sound but apple logo does not appear). I have also connected the screen as a second monitor for my laptop mac book pro 2018 and also does not work- it recognizes the screen as a charging cable..and is only charged)

of the five or six possible graphics cards on a Mac Pro 2019 42 lb tower, which is installed in your machine?

of the many different ports on a 2019 MacPro tower where you could plug in a display, which are you using?

of the many different kinds of cables you could be using to make the connection, EXACTLY what cable are you using? what symbols are at each end? who made it? about how long is it?

There are several ports on the graphics card, several ports on the I/O card on the back of the chassis, and several ports on the top of the chassis, which I why I was asking, "which port"? I cannot see which one you are using, so I need you to describe which port in more detail.

The Mac Pro 2019 model does NOT include a ThunderBolt cable in the box. There IS one included with the XDR display. Which is why I asked, "what Thunderbolt cable, where did you get it and how long is it?"

<< indeed i use the original cable of the XDR screen - lightening symbols at both ends (original)-symmetric 2 meters long/ >>

that is the Apple ThunderBolt cable PRO (an ACTIVE cable (has driver electronics in each end, which allows it to be so long).

A standard ThunderBolt cable for 40 Mbytes/sec operation would be limited to 1/2 meter in length. Do you have a cable like that you could try, to see if the problem is only the cable? [a USB-C cable will NOT suffice for this test]
