smart mailbox

I just upgraded my MacBook to macOS Monterey today, as a result, my smart mailbox (I like to have one smart mailbox for all my unread emails - different email accounts all merged there into all unread) is no longer working and synch with all my past unread emails... what can I do?

One more question: what is the point of synching Mail with iCloud considering all mail servers are already backed up by the email providers?

What are "past unread" emails? Wouldn't they now be read if they were past unread?

What is the criteria of your Unread Smart Mailbox?

It will take some time for Spotlight to reindex everything (but probably not more than 10 minutes).

Smart Mailboxes are not part of an IMAP server, so they could not possibly be synched to all of your devices without iCloud.

To use your iCloud email account, you would have to connect it to some sort of email client, or just use the web portal.

If there was some other point to that question, can you expand upon it?
