How to get a broken hinge to an Apple Macbook Pro fixed after the warranty is far gone...

How old is the computer? Apple's policy is to not service or supply parts for computers between 5 and 7 years out of production. There may also be weeks of waiting to get an appointment.

It is best to use Apple's triage system instead of a Genius appt to see if the computer qualifies. Try starting here instead:

and use this link at the bottom of that page to see if your Macbook Pro qualifies for Apple service:



If it is vintage/obsolete, an independent service tech may be able to source parts and install them. Just remember cost; in my part of the world (US NW), reliable techs charge in the US$70-80 per hour so it could be an expensive repair.
