Yesterday evening the hinge of my 27 inch iMac late 2013 suddenly broke. After some reading on Google I learned that there was a factory defect with these models (for which Apple even refunded repairs). After having contacted 'Apple support' their answer was 'obsolete'. I find this rather disturbing. Are there others who experienced the same situation ? And what did you do ? Thanks.

FWIW, OWC sells a replacement hinge.
In Applespeak, "obsolete" means no longer supported in any way.
I thought Apple products lived longer. :-(
