A quick glance at the manual (Page 150) for the Samsung TV informs the user that........

  • The TV supports the FAT, exFAT and NTFS file systems.

These are file systems used by PCs. The Time Capsule uses a Mac HFS+ file system. As far as I know, the TV would not be compatible with files on the Time Capsule, but I don't have a Samsung TV here to test.

Check with Samsung Support to ask them if HFS+ files systems might be supported by the TV. But even if they are, the Time Capsule was not designed for the type of use that you are asking about.

Thank you Bob,

I read the manual and it dosen't seems to accept HFS+

My thoughts was that a f.ex. a MP4 file is readable from a USB stick why not from the Time Capsule and never thought about operating systems.

This is part of the manual:

Limitations to the use of photo, video and music files Try Now

• The TV supports MSC (Mass Storage Class) USB devices only. MSC is a class designation for mass storage devices.

Types of MSC devices include external hard drives, flash card readers and digital cameras. (USB hubs are not

supported.) These kinds of devices must be connected directly to the USB port. The TV may not be able to

recognise a USB device or read the files on the device if it is connected with a USB extension cable. Do not

disconnect USB devices while they are transferring files.

• When connecting an external hard drive, use the USB (HDD 5V 1A) port. We recommend that you use an external

hard drive with its own power adapter.

USB (HDD 5V 1A) port is supported by some models.

• Certain digital cameras and audio devices may not be compatible with the TV.

• If there are multiple USB devices connected to the TV, the TV might not be able to recognise some or all the

devices. USB devices that use high-power input should be connect to the USB (HDD 5V 1A) port.

USB (HDD 5V 1A) port is supported by some models.

• The TV supports the FAT, exFAT and NTFS file systems.

• In the media contents list, the TV can display up to 1,000 files per folder. If the USB device contains more than

8,000 files and folders, however, some files and folders might not be accessible.

• Certain files, depending on how they are encoded, may not play on the TV.

• Certain files are not supported on all models.

• The DivX and DTS codecs are not supported by the Samsung TV models released in 2021.

Ok, let's take a closer look at this requirement. Based on it, your TC will not work. Note that the "drive" used must be connected to the TV's USB port. Access to the TC's hard drive is either by Ethernet or wireless ... not USB. Again, the only option I see available to you is if your TV can run third-party apps, like Plex.

Is you goal to use your Time Capsule as a media server for your Samsung TV? If so, that will not be possible as it does not have that functionality. At best, it potentially could be used as a file server ... but, even so, it would have very limited throughput performance.

If you do plan on trying to use the TC as a file server, does your Samsung TV support running a Plex (or similar) server? These types of servers could potentially connect to the TC's internal drive via the SMB protocol, regardless of the drive's format type, to access its media content.

The TV supports the FAT, exFAT and NTFS file systems.

I think that pretty much says it all.

Tesserax in his reply suggested the possibility of using a Plex server, which might be a potential solution to use the Time Capsule as a file server.........not a media server.. Check with Samsung Support on that, since I do not see anything like this mentioned in the specifications.
