Is this why my rather old Kodak ESPOffice 2170 printer is not being recognized by my new MacBook Air?

Compatibility issue with MacBook Air purchased Aug 2021. Is it not compatible with old Kodak printer model ESP Office 2170?

Hi,

Yes, the KODAK ESP Office 2170 All-in-One Printer was introduced approx. 2011, and since it does not appear to be supported any more, one would have to assume that drivers compatible with the latest macOS versions are not available.

One should perhaps not completely rule out that a driver for a totally different printer can be used, or that a generic driver would work. However, the exact printing language for this model is not known to me.

Otherwise, you would have to look for another solution/workaround.

  • An older Mac could perhaps be used with existing printer drivers (and the printer could possibly be shared by this Mac).
  • A Windows PC (older or newer) may have drivers for the printer in question (and the printer could possibly be shared).
  • At least images could be transferred on memory cards or a USB flash drive, and printed directly from the printer's control panel.
