Beats fit pro cuts out audio after a loud clanging sound

Has anyone noticed when using the beats fit pro in transparency mode that if there is a loud sound (in my case a metal clang from re-racking weights) the earbud closest to the sound will cut out momentarily?

Is this the expected behavior, or do I have a problem with my earbuds?
