Not sure. The problem is that Apple generally wants iPhones for trade-ins to be original, although factory refurbished or even replacement Apple devices are supposedly fine.. The plan is usually to replace the battery anyways, so they generally don't care about the condition of the battery other than it's not swelling. Not sure about what would happen if there's an aftermarket battery installed. If they did something like damage the screw threading then you're not likely to get any value.

Asurion generally has replacement iPhones that are refurbished by their own non-Apple vendors and often contain non-Apple parts. I'm almost sure that they put in aftermarket batteries. But you can always try and see what they say.

Just to clarify, how did you get it through Asurion? I think at one point they worked with Apple in their AppleCare+ theft & loss coverage before they switched to AIG, where I believe it's a replacement phone distributed by Apple. Or was it something like through AT&T where it's usually one that Asurion has refurbished by its own vendors.

Yes, that is what I was asking. Even when I put in my phone I.D. info in while going through the buying process directly on the Apple website, it said I would get $80, but it just felt like something wasn't right and i didn't want to be accused of trying to "pull a fast one". So I ended up not buying the new phone. I'm trying to avoid going to the Verizon store.

It was through a Verizon replacement agreement when I originally bought my phones.

I know you said you’re not going through with it, but that’s a case where you could always try. Buy you have no real way of knowing if it’s all Apple OEM unless it’s giving warnings that there isn’t a genuine Apple part.
