IPad Photos app crashes when selecting certain People.

I’ve seen a few threads on this in the past. The apple photos app will crash to the Home Screen when selecting certain People. I spent hours on the phone with Apple and they were unable to resolve the issue.

Through trial and error, I was able to eliminate the issue on my iPad. I’ve done this twice now. It seems the glitch occurs when performing the “Review Confirmed Photos” of people. I’d also note that I have over 100,000 photos/videos in my iCloud library and dozens of “Confirmed Photos” for my People library. I would imagine this problem doesn’t happen as often with smaller libraries, otherwise Apple would be hearing a lot more about it. Anyway, on to the fix that works for me, hopefully this helps someone else out:

Navigate to Photos app

Select “Search”

Type the person’s name

Select “See All”

Do NOT select the person via their picture, this will simply take you to their page where the crash is replicated

Choose any picture of them

Swipe up to see their avatar in the bottom left

Click the avatar and select “Review Confirmed Photos”

Review photos until you can do so no longer or you’ve added 300+ pictures to their page

Navigate back to “People” and select the person

The glitch should hopefully be fixed now

Repeat the above steps again if it still crashes
