Effects not visible in inspector

I applied a LUT to a clip in the timeline. After doing so, I see the controls in the effects part of the video inspector, but if I click away to another clip and then back to the original clip there is no effects line item for the original clip in the inspector. This is not a "hide/show" issue -- it's just not even an option anymore even though the LUT is still in effect.

Disclaimer: I am new to using LUTs and color correction in general; very high probability of user error.
