A painless way is to use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

This relies on an iCloud backup so if you haven't already activated iCloud Backup on your old iPhone go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and turn it on. A backup (with power and over wi-fi) does not take long. The process is desribed in the linked article.

After Quick Start transfers your passwords and settings to your new phone a backup will restore your data. Following that, the App store will download all your purchased/free app. In about half and hour your new phone will be ready for use and you will be signed into iCloud.

If you have already set up your new phone you will need to sign into iCloud to access all your iCloud services.
