Using Hide My Email with FaceBook

Having some weird issues trying to use hide my email to create a FaceBook account.

I’ve been planning on deleting my personal Facebook account for awhile now, and just having an account for viewing only, but just got around to it.

In short, the verification email I’m supposed to receive from Facebook just isn’t coming through. I’ve waited a little over 30mins so far. Here’s what I’ve tried:

• checking which email the account is supposed to be forwarded to for accuracy
• checked the forward account from iOS mail & in a browser
• changing the forwarding address to my default iCloud email
• made sure hide my email was still online

I’ve checked the article from apple about hide my email and there are no tips for a situation like this. Is there something going on here? Is there something else I need to do? Any help appreciated.
