Microsoft Word Developer Tab

Why no active x controls in MS word in Mac OS? Microsoft Word issue with the developer tab on the ribbon, I want to be able the click the check box and it place the check in the box, and I am not able to do it. Apple knows this is an issue how long before we get the same options that other computer software not on Apple have???? Please fix it! The properties are so limited and we need this updated!!!!
