Why dont my apps work even when connected to the internet?

everytime i go anywhere outside my house, my apps start to lose connection even when i have four bars or perfect wifi. I restarted my phone alot, checked my networks and wifi, turned on airplane mode and turned it off, i have on my cellular data and even checked my vpn however nothing works. It started happening a little before i got notifications for a new ios update, so I thought that was the problem and updated my phone in hopes of it fixing the problem, however the same problem was there, any help please?
