OLD Macbook Pro

I have an old Macbook Pro (like 2006) that has photos from my kids. The computer died one day, and I put it on the shelf. If I don't have it backed up on an external drive, can I recover those photos?

House fire. Recovering Photos Last year we my family had a house fire. I recovered three MacBooks from the home. I was able to salvage the hard drives and plug into an external hard drive, thinking I would be able to save these memories from 2006-2009. When I plugged in, all seemed savvy until I got the message (iPhoto isn’t supported in this version of macOS). It appears that the photos I'm hoping to recover are STUCK in an old format/version of iPhoto. Is there anyway to recover these family memories?

If the drive hasn’t died, I’m sure you’ll be able to recover the photos. If it has failed, they’re gone because you didn’t make a backup. Not sure what would be a good first call however.
