I received my new iPhone 13 without a sim card. My carrier is AT&T and I purchased it thru Apple online. The sim card in my old iPhone Xr does not fit my iPhone 13. I can make phone calls and do text msgs.
Do I need go to an AT&T store to get a sim card?

Apple doesn't ship sim cards in iPhone 12 or 13 models anymore. It has an eSim, which AT&T can activate online or over a phone call with you. There's really no need to use physical sim cards anymore.
When I received my iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, I also bought it from Apple online directly and I identified my carrier as AT&T and validated my phone number. When I turned the phones on, they automatically activated to the correct phone numbers on start up. If yours didn't, just call AT&T and they get you activated over the phone.
I should have mentioned the sim from your XR would fit your new phone. But I'd not use it personally. I'd switch over to the eSim card.
I did figure out getting the sim card into the 13. On the 13 it is on the right vs the left on the Xr. Tray is oriented differently. So now man 13 says I have a secondary phone #. I just turned it off. Thanks for the help
