Quality of the iPhone 13 pro max

Sounds silly but I’ve recently upgraded to the iPhone 13 pro max and with weeks already the bezel around the outside of the phone has some cracks and chips already even thou the phone is in a official Apple leather case and hasn’t been dropped nor do I work or live in an environment where the phone can be easily damaged.

I’ve seen on other forums that this is quite common but to be honest when your paying in excess of a 1000 pounds for a device to see it tarnish already in weeks is quite disappointing. Though It doesn’t affect the use of the phone cosmetically it’s very poor

where do I stand as I can see this continuing to get worse which is sad when I’ve had the 11 pro max for 2 years and not a single scratch
