iPhone 13 pro cameras

As I understand it the iPhone 13 pro has the best camera yet and three of them. What is not explained that I can find is how I choose which camera to use or do all three take a snap at same time?

I haven't been able to find any documentation on exactly happens when you press the button. My assumption is depending on which mode (portrait, panorama, etc.) determines which camera is used. I also assume you can't get the same scene taken with all three cameras at same time. Artistically would be cool with the different lenses getting the same shot and then merging or slicing-dicing parts of the three images together.

The reason I am asking about being able to choose which camera is you can get some interesting affects using one lens designed for one purpose on a subject its not deigned for. Like a wide angle for a portrait, well it did with old fashion film cameras. You get distortions and in/out of focus, can be interested.
