Numbers simplifying fractions

I'm trying to write 50/50 into a cell on Numbers, and I would like to keep the format as 50/50, but numbers has been simplifying it to just "1". How do I keep this from happening? I have adjusted my auto correction in regards to fractions, but it doesn't seem to be the cause. I have had luck with keeping the format if I were to type something else in the cell, but aesthetically I would rather not have anything else in the cell. I would appreciate any help.

Type an apostrophe before entering 50/50 into the cell.

The leading apostrophe tells Numbers to set the cell's data format to Text.

The apostrophe is not seen as part of the entry, and does not display.

You'll notice that 50/50 also 'aligns left', the default alignment for text. You can change that in the Format Inspector.
