Blue Line in Template

Good day,

I wish to address an issue encountered with the Pages template Project Proposal.

Upon creating a word-processing document with such template, I have been confronted with a blue horizontal line appearing at the bottom of every page, running across positions (2.12, 322.53) through (19.47, 322.53) on an A4 layout.

Upon examining the document's Document menu in the "Section - Background" dropdown, there appears to be no background set for this document; a further test by creating a Page Layout file with the said template would also reveal a blank page template.

I wonder if anyone has a clue regarding to what category of element this line may belong, and how thus it may be removed partially or entirely in a document created using this template.

Hi Zhang'

Here's an enlarged view:

Note the blue dots between each word in the block of type and the blue Pilcrow character ( ¶ ) at the end of each line of text.

Also note the 'dog-eared page' icon at the right end of the blue line.

These are all 'invisible' characters. The dots are spaces. the Pilcrow is a Paragraph break (return), and the blue line with the page icon is a Page break, creating a second page in the document.

You are seeing them because the the menu item "Show/Hide Invisibles" has been set to Show.

Go to the View menu, Click the "Hide Invisibles" menu item, and those blue characters will all become invisible.

Regards,

Barry

Took a look at the document created from this template again.

The blue lines at the bottom of pages 2 and 3 of the document are 'shapes' — graphic objects from the Shapes Button. A change in the View menu item won't hide this.

To remove it, click on the line to select it, then press delete.

If the selected line has an x at each end, where the one above shows a small circle, go to the Arrange menu and choose Unlock, then press delete.

I encountered this same issue on the resume template, so hopefully one of these solutions applies:

Top line:

Clicking the text closest to the line, I then went to Format > Layout. At the bottom, Borders & Rules needs to be set to None. If you see a solid line, you've found the source of the first infuriating, unclickable line.

Bottom line:

Taking clues from this older answer, go to Arrange > Section Layouts > Make Layout Objects Selectable.

You may need to edit your page margins (Document > Document margins) so that the sections don't overlap with the line, but then I was able to click on and delete it.

Hello Berry,

Thank you for the response.

I have attempted to select this element without success, the cursor would not even change upon being guided through it.

As this line persistently appears with any additional page break inserted, I was under the presumption that it is a compositional element within the document's setup, yet that even the "page layout document" returns an empty fill. I don't seem to have any access to this element, regardless of its nature, on my end.

Take care,

Zhang
