iPad 5th Gen (A1822) "iPad Unavailable"

After several attempts to factory restore this iPad using updated versions of iTunes and the Apple Finder (Monterey 12.0.1) for an elderly neighbor who doesn't recall how it got to its current state, the iPad simply reads "iPad Unavailable" - nothing else, no time it's locked, nothing. Just "iPad Unavailable" is the only thing on the screen.

All looked like it was going swimmingly, then, it error 4d out. I would try again...stuck in this loop. Now this screen.

Having reset dozens of iOS devices since 2007, I haven't come across this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

This, more than likely, happened by too may attempts of inputting incorrect passcode. You can try the following procedure to see whether that restores it. I know that you may have already tried what I am about to recommend below.

You will have to reset the passcode to your iPad by following the instructions in this guide published by Apple ➔  If you forgot the passcode or if your iPad has been disabled. You will need a computer to execute this procedure and all the data on your iPad will be erased.

Hopefully, you have a backup created on ➔ iCloud and/or on a computerIf you do then, you can ➔Restore your iPad from the backup file once your passcode has been reset and the iPad has been returned to factory settings by the
