“Cannot Use Accessory

Extreme 55AE: This accessory requires

too much power.”

i get this when I plug my ssd to my iPhone 12 running ios 15, I’m not understanding why. How can I solve this problem? Im just wanting to transfer pictures and videos to the ssd.

im using an apple lighting to camera adapter with a 2t sandisk extreme. I tried using an apple iPhone charger and the 61watt MacBook charger and neither work.

some external harddrives have an external ac power adaptor to power them

some rely on getting current from the computers port

ios devices do not support providing the later in which case one needs to put an ac powered usb hub in between which will have the ac power from it's adaptor to feed the external harddrive rather than the ios device.
