Why can’t I keep monthly AppleCare on an iPhone that I’m giving to my child that has an Apple ID under our Family Share group? Or can I reactivate it under the child’s account within X days?

Hi,
AppleCare+ monthly is linked to your Apple ID, and bills on a monthly basis to the primary payment method you have on file. Once AC+ has been linked to an Apple ID, it cannot be unlinked and linked to another Apple ID.
However, if you are still within the agreement sales timeframe, you can elect to cancel your AC+ and then repurchase it on the correct/preferred Apple ID. It would be billed on that Apple ID on a monthly basis moving forward.
The agreement sales timeframe is sixty days from your device’s date of purchase.
