iPad setup with SIM card

I didn’t know my old device had a SIM card. I set up my pad without it and noticed it said no SIM card. Just found my SIM card in the old device and put in the new. Do I need to reset device and start over?

No, you don’t need to reset the iPad. Just shut-down the iPad before changing the SIM card in the SIM slot:

Settings > General > Shut Down

After swapping the SIM, just power-on/restart as normal.

HI lab927, thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

It will be okay insert your SIM card as long as the iPad registers your mobile service providers details.

However, you can restart your iPad if you want to be sure there are no issues:

Then to check that everything is working simply switch off WiFi and your SIM card should display as 4G or similar. You can also check your mobile settings in Settings > Mobile Data.
