Airpods (3rd Gen) not working with Logic in spatial audio

Just purchased a new 2021 macbook pro & logic pro with 3rd gen airpods and I cannot get the airpods spatial audio to work while I'm mixing in logic. Everything is set right but whenever I click on the audio settings for the airpods, spatial audio is greyed out.

why won't iMovie play audio on my AirPods? When I use my AirPods on my MacBook Pro, the audio from iMovie doesn't come through. It will play on my MacBook Pro speakers, but if I select AirPods Pro on the bluetooth tab, the iMovie audio won't play on my AirPods.
