How to get Ethernet Connection to M1Max Macbook Pro

So i got my shiny new M1Max Macbook Pro... So far so good... but its only connecting via WiFi. I tried connecting my old USB Ethernet adapter via a hub (which works for all my other macs with USB). and I get no Ethernet connection. NONE... doesn't even seem like it sees the adapter and or signal connection?

All other devices connected to the same hub and ports (even the same port if I disconnect the ethernet adapter) work fine, no issues, so its not a HUB issue.

Anyone have a good Ethernet solution for the new Macbook Pro's M1MAX?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you're having issues connecting ethernet to your M1 MacBook Pro. We'll do our best to help out.

For this we'd isolate the issue a bit further.

If you haven't already, we'd recommend to restart the Mac normally using the Apple menu > Restart. You would be unable to reset the SMC on a M1 Mac using the Intel Mac steps. Restarting should test this further.

Test it out in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac

And in another user on the Mac: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Should the issue continue to occur in safe mode and another user on the Mac, then it would be best to contact Apple Support: Get Support

In most cases, there is one initial step:

You need to ADD the interface to the list in:

system preferences > network

click on the Add [+] icon under the left box, and see if anything mentioning ethernet is shown.

If so, add it, and see if it can then be configured and used.

That's just it, it doesn't see or recognize any other interface. It is like the Computer can't see the Ethernet connection at all using the adapter even though I have confirmed the Adapter does in fact work and function correctly.

If your comfortable using terminal, here is a tip to try.https://macreports.com/mac-ethernet-not-working-how-to-fix/ Just as a side-note. Have you tried connecting directly to your router/modem without using the hub?

OK, got it working... the USBC to USB adapter worked just fine... and just for fun I tested it a different USB hub and it worked as well. I think a port died on my other USB I was using, and that's why it couldn't connect... Thanks for the assistance!

Using direct USB connection is a good suggestion. You can buy USB-C to USB adapter on Amazon for about 2 for US$10. (just be sure to get the males and females correct for your setup).

I am waiting on Amazon to deliver those (USBC to USB adapter) today actually, so I hope that fixes the issue... Will report back once I know for sure..
