lost apple watch

so i lost my apple watch the night of new years the last place i saw it was at my friends and we checked her whole house. but i noticed the location of it in find my devices kept updating at random times during the night saying it is wherever i am. it has to be dead because it’s going on 24 days it’s been missing but it still updates it’s location and gives me the option to play sound. in my case will the sound play if it’s giving me the option ? i’ve tried multiple times but i don’t know if maybe i dropped it outside or what.
