Mail delivery delayed then delivered in batches

Hi,

I have a MacBook Air running Monterey with all updates etc applied but I have a problem with Mail. I can go for 2 or 3 days without getting any email then all of a sudden all of my mail will appear from those days. I am fairly convinced that the issue must be in Mail (or perhaps OS X) as I have several mail accounts with different providers (including Gmail and iCloud).

Here's what I've checked:

  • All accounts are online
  • I have tried syncing manually
  • There's definitely adecent Internet connection because I can use Safari etc.
  • Account settings seem to be OK, nothing has changed there recently

Any advice on what else I could check to eliminate this really annoying issue would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Paul.
