Vintage?

Has anyone heard the phrase "vintage device"? I have an iMac that I've taken good care of for years and always did the proper updates. I'm now being told it is "vintage" and unable to accept the newest updates. I guess I'll buy a new computer, but was curious if theres a way to keep my current iMac secure. Thanks

Kilted has given you a pretty good idea already. Normally I keep my Macs from 5-10 years depending on how I use it. My primary Mac is a 2020 27" that I bought in August of 2020 shortly after they were released. I bought it to replace my 2011 which worked just fine but because it was Vintage I could not get current versions of Mac OS and I also knew the 2011 was old and was of the age when parts die and then I'd be left Macless. We also have a MBA from 2014 which works fine however due to changes in life really is only used when we travel where it suffices just fine for most of what what we need it for such as e-mail, web surfing, etc.
