why is my facetime self view a square?

this only seems to happen to me, but sometimes my facetime self view on a phone will with only one other person that has only ever been with one other person will turn into a square and i have no way of turning it back into a rectangle. they can see the same rectangular view of me that i can’t see of me, and i can see a rectangle of them and their self view is normal too. cannot figure out why it’s happening! seems to happen when i go on pause and then go back to full screen facetime, but changes throughout the call at other times too.

does anyone know how to change it?

Hi there Daisy,

We're not exactly sure what's happening from the details you provided, but we'd like to help however we can.

While a video that you can share with Apple Support may be the best route to go about troubleshooting this, let's rule out what we can:

  1. You mentioned that this occurs when viewing yourself within the FaceTime app, but you also mentioned 'it's only been with one other person'. What exactly did you mean by this regarding the issue occurring in FaceTime? The more details you provide, the better equipped we'll be to assist.
  2. When did this start to occur, or has this always been the behavior in FaceTime?
  3. We see you have iOS 15 installed, but the latest version is iOS 15.3. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Cheers!
