Can't fix underscan on external display - help

Hello there,

I just got a Dell P2422H display, and when I first plugged it into my m1 MacBook Air , it all worked seamless, but after my Mac went to sleep and I woke it up later, my external display started showing quite some underscan. It makes it horrible to look at.

I tried a lot of ways of fixing it like:

  • Changing the resolution and refresh rate
  • mirroring the display
  • Safe mode
  • Tried using it via a test user account
  • plugging in and out the monitor, using different ports
  • plugging Mac into another monitor that shows no underscan

Things to note: There weirdly is no underscan when I change to the following resolutions (1280x1024, 1152x864 and 1024x768)

The display is connected with an HDMI cable through a satechi usb c hub.

At this point, I'm just panicking and have no idea what to do.

Help much needed!

From the monitor's control panel is there a way to totally reset the monitor?

Reset SMC and NVRAM (if applicable).

Unfortunately, I tried factory resetting the monitor, and it just didn't work. I also tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM, neither did that work.

I noted one thing with the monitor settings: I experimented with connecting a Windows machine, and found out there's an Auto Adjust option, but only when I connect it via VGA. It also says that in the monitor's user manual.
