Can I return opened Macbook to store?

I bought the base model MacBook Air - I thought I was able to upgrade the RAM later but just realised I cannot. I have opened the MacBook and set it up - what is the return policy to upgrade to the one with 16GB RAM?

Apple generally offers returns on hardware within 14 days; if you bought it from someone else, check the policy. Buying a different one is a separate transaction.
