How to Install Outdated Printer Driver for 1022 (meant for OS 12.0) on Mac OS 12.1 or newer?

HP Laser Jet 1018 never had a drive for Mac computers and it used to be the case that 1022 drivers can be installed for Macs. The most current version of 1022 driver is only good for Mac OS 12.0 which is an older version of the current OS 12.1. Is there a way to allow older software meant for 12.0 to still install on 12.1? Does anyone have a solve for this issue?

Hi,

Did you try an HP LaserJet 1022 driver 1.6.1 from the HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update package (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) from Apple, or was it a 1022 driver downloaded from HP?

The system requirements for the 5.1.1 package from Apple say Not compatible with macOS v12 and newer, but one report about an HP LaserJet P1005 (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253578097?answerId=256707369022#256707369022) indicated that it worked with macOS 12.1 anyway. So, if not done already, you could perhaps carry out a few experiments with the 5.1.1 package from Apple for the LaserJet 1018. If necessary, try resetting the printing system. Make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything.
