Why are my airpods disconnecting from my MacBook Pro when I move between Zoom rooms?

I'm working on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) running Monterey 12.1. I've noticed that when I move back from a Zoom "breakout room" to the "main room" my airpods will disconnect. This is a very disrupting and frustrating problem -- with such expensive toys, one would hope they could at least perform as well as the $10 wired headphones I previously used. But now I'm going back to my old wired ear buds because of this problem -- I'm teaching and can't risk repeatedly cutting out and having my students unable to hear me. Please fix this! I'm guessing there's something in the software that needs an update, between Apple's os & Zoom.

Hello mavisclare,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with your AIrPods disconnecting when changing rooms in the Zoom application on your Mac. Is this the only app that this behavior occurs with? Does resetting your AirPods resolve the issue: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro

If not, does restarting your Mac help: Shut down or restart your Mac

Are there any updates available for the Zoom app? If so, install any available updates: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

If not, try uninstalling, and reinstalling the Zoom app to see if that resolves the issue:

Download apps from the App Store on your Mac

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
