How to stream audio from iPad to iMac

Not sure why it's so hard to find a simple answer to this, but I'm playing a song on my iPad, I see the Airplay icon, click on it, and nothing happens. So what am I supposed to do, just to play music on my iPad, and have it play on my iMac... thanks

Hello Saxman,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We've reviewed your question and it looks like you have issues streaming audio between your devices. It's understandable that you'd want this resolved, so allow us to assist with that. Please start by taking a look here: Use AirPlay to stream audio. If you are following these steps, and the audio is supported, this process should work.

If this is still not working, can you let us know a bit more about both devices, the OS version they are running and what specific errors or alerts you might be seeing? We're here for you. Have a fantastic day!

Hi, Well, I read it, and as usual, the directions were no help. I opened the app on my iPad, hit the Airplay icon, and it just changes the window's appearance, and when I hit play, it only plays on my iPad. It doesn't show me any other device or speaker, only the iPad.

"You can also use AirPlay to stream audio from an app you're using on your device. Just open the app, tap AirPlay , then tap a speaker or tap multiple speakers."

So, how does this work. (I've got IOS15.3 on my iPad, and 11.6.3 on my iMac) I'd take pics of the two windows, but I don't know how to take screenshots on the iPad.
