SOCD report detected: (iBoot panic)

system panic can happen due to many reasons. In my case I was unlucky and it seems that I got a defective new laptop. I’m assuming this rarely happens. If you get system panic message try follow the instructions in this link.

if you still get same issue, send it for service. I know that some 2020 M1 air laptops shipped with defective logic board. Hopefully you still with in the warranty period

I followed all the troubleshooting I can find and now I’m working with apple support to find a resolution to this issue. I can reproduce this issue with following steps:

1. after login click the apple logo and select sleep
2. leave it on sleep mode for about 40 to 45 minutes.
3. it will restart by it self
4. after login again it will show the kernel panic message

this issue does not appear when switching to safe mode and it might be a software issue so I erased and reinstalled macOS with out any backup but it the issue still show up following the same steps.

What type of Mac that has the same problem? Year and processor type will help and did you try reproducing this problem when laptop reboot in safe mode

Apple support asked me to send the laptop for service suspecting it might be a rare hardware issue. Based on that I’ve decided to return the laptop for a refund. Since it’s new and I’m still in the return with full refund period. I am wondering if this issue is happening for others as well?
